My Views of Utah

A Winter Olympic Experience

February 2002

Dale Chihuly Glass Exhibit

Dale Chihuly is a master glassblower who lives in Washington State. His unusual creations have been exhibited around the world. Utah was pleased to host his works as part of the Cultural Olympics in Salt Lake City which was held in conjunction with the athletic games. The exhibit was in Abravanel Concert Hall which is just outside "Olympic Square."

Outside the concert hall

Two of Chihuly's "trees" grace the entry way to Abravanel Hall. The angle of the mid-afternoon sun allows for this amazing reflection of the nearby blocks of downtown Salt Lake City.

Below are small photos of some highlights of the spectacular works. To see a larger version, click on the photo.
